Camp Bastion: a Place in the Desert

HD video, 2015/2017.

In this short film, Radio Anti speak to Lieutenant Colonel Laurence Quinn, who oversaw the construction and eventual dismantling of Camp Bastion, the main British army base in Afghanistan between 2005-2014 and the largest British overseas military camp built since the Second World War. The film seeks to critically understand place-making through the practical actions necessary to create basic infrastructure, the visual markers people use navigate a place, and the ways that boundaries are created and sustained.
